IT Preparation

These four steps must be completed before you can access the Web and Mobile Apps. Check each off as you complete it.

⚠️

Whitelist your URLs first — this step is critical

If your IT department does not whitelist the PAES-Scan URLs and open port 8000 before training, the PAES-Scan Web and Mobile Apps will not work — and we may not be able to deliver your training.

1

Send the PAES-Scan URLs to your IT department for whitelisting

Forward the URL list below to your IT department and ask them to whitelist each one and open port 8000 through your firewall.

URLs to Whitelist
  • https://paesscan.com:8000
  • https://stg.paesscan.com:8000/
  • sendgrid.com

Plus: enable / open port 8000 through your firewall. If your IT department needs to email us directly, the address is selfservice@paesauthor.com.

Have your IT team scan the QR code or click below. We'll walk through whitelisting, port 8000, and any firewall questions together.

2

Purchase your PAES tablets

You'll need 1–2 tablets for your Supervisors, plus an optional 3rd for the Check-In Station.

Specs: iPad with iOS 15.5 or later, or Android tablet with Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) or later. Screen size must be 9.7" or larger. The PAES-Scan app does not work on phones.

3

Install the PAES-Scan Mobile App on each tablet

Search for "PAES Scan" in the App Store or Google Play Store, or use the buttons below.

4

Confirm whitelisting worked — log into the Web App

Once your IT department confirms whitelisting is done, log into the Web App at app.paesscan.com using the credentials we provided in your setup email.

If your login is successful, whitelisting worked. If you can't log in, your URLs probably haven't been whitelisted yet — go back and follow up with IT (or scan the QR code in Step 1 to schedule help).

PAES-Scan Setup

⚠️ Complete this tab after Installation of your Upgrade and after Step 9: IT Preparation.

Set up the PAES-Scan Web App and Mobile App for your lab. You'll want to have completed the four items on the IT Preparation tab first, and should wait to complete your official PAES Training (if applicable), before working through this one.

1

Test login from each Supervisor tablet

Once your tablets arrive and the Mobile App is installed, open the app and sign in on each Supervisor tablet to confirm the whole pipeline (whitelist → app → credentials) works end-to-end.

2

Practice in the Training Environment

The PAES-Scan App has two modes: Training (for role-playing and practice) and Production (for real Employees once training is complete). Use Training to get familiar with workflows before going live.

Reference your PAES Video Participant's Guide (also accessible from the Web App via the "Training" button).

Set up Shifts, Employees, and Supervisors on the Web App

Log in to app.paesscan.com with the credentials we provided in your setup email, then add your lab's people and schedule.

For the full walkthrough, see the Video Participants Guide and Training Video 13 — both accessible from inside the Web App via the "Training" link at the top right.

  • Create your shifts (your training/class schedule)
  • Add your PAES Employees and assign them to shifts
  • Add your Supervisors and set their permissions
  • Generate QR codes for each Employee — print and attach them to Employee badges or Work Folders
⚠️ Complete this tab after Installation of your Upgrade and after Step 9: IT Preparation.

Step 11: Training Videos

⚠️ Complete this tab after Installation of your Upgrade and after Step 9: IT Preparation.

Step 12: Lab Setup

Your upgrade installation replaced specific items — but your PAES Lab has additional setup tasks that apply to all jobs across all five components. Use the interactive Setup Guide to walk through each one.

How to complete this step:

  1. Open the PAES Lab Setup Guide at setup.paesauthor.com
  2. Start with the Required for Training tab — if you haven't already whitelisted your URLs and logged into the Web App, do that first
  3. Work through the remaining tabs (Staff & Facility, Computer/Technology, Business/Marketing, Construction/Industrial, Processing/Production, Consumer/Service, and more)
  4. Some tasks may already be complete from your original lab setup — check them off and move on to any that still need attention

The Setup Guide tracks your progress across all tabs so you can see exactly what's left.

🥄 Consumer Containers to Replace & Fill (click to expand)

The 2024 Consumer Service upgrade includes a box of 23 labeled food containers. The 4 steps below walk you through labeling, filling, purchasing, and refilling. Setup-step checkboxes track your own progress. The smaller Contents Needed checkboxes in step 2 are how you tell us which foods need to be replenished — those will flow into your custom quote.

1. Label the 23 containers

Apply the labels provided in the box to all 23 food containers, following the size noted on each label sheet. Placement (front vs side) depends on how you'll arrange the containers on the shelf.

2. Transfer your food supplies NOT for cooking to the new containers

For the Food NOT intended for cooking, as long as you still have the contents of your old containers, the contents can be transferred to 11 of the 23 labeled containers (plus the cornstarch shaker). The remaining 12 containers are filled from purchased items in Step 4 below.

For any food you no longer have on hand, check the small Contents Needed checkbox to the right of the row — we’ll add that consumable to your quote.

3. Purchase Consumables

None of the consumables are included in your shipment — confirm contents onsite or purchase them before assigning related jobs.

Each consumable below appears once, grouped by category. Click a category to expand. Job pills show every PAES Job that needs the item.
